HOW DO I CLEAN MY CAR? - CORONAVIRUS

The bizarre times in which we currently live also call for bizarre measures. Staying within four walls and avoiding social contact are measures that are simply not in our nature and feel very unusual. In terms of hygiene, we need to wash our hands more often and better in order to prevent the spread of the corona virus. But what about the hygiene measures for your car? Are the surfaces in your car sensitive to spreading? How long do bacteria stay in your car? How do I best clean my car? You can read it in our new blog:

The corona virus can remain on many surfaces that you touch and can therefore remain contagious for a certain period of time. The survival chances of the virus do differ per type of surface, for example, the virus can survive on a plastic surface for three days and therefore remains contagious. How about the interior of your car? When driving, you touch a lot of things with your hands and therefore a lot of bacteria remain everywhere. Time for a big cleaning!

1. Water and soap
The most suitable means for cleaning the interior of your car is ordinary water and soap, but alcohol-based cleaning agents are also suitable. You can use it to disinfect the steering wheel, gear lever, dashboard, direction indicators, but also the seat upholstery.

2. Not with bleach.
In any case, we do not recommend using bleach or hydrogen peroxide! This might kill the corona virus, but you also damage the interior. Also, don't touch the digital screens in your car with garage softwareThey often have a coating to prevent fingerprints or reflections, which is simply damaged by ammonia.

3. Not too much water
Is your car upholstery made of fabric? Then a mix of detergent and water is already suitable. Please note, do not use too much water! This can penetrate into your upholstery and eventually cause mold. And that is not very fresh, we can tell you.

4. Be careful with leather
Do you happen to have leather upholstery? Then be careful! Most of the leather is colored. So if you want to clean that, don't brush too hard or you'll scrub off the colored top coat. This can often be seen in older cars with light leather, which is starting to turn dark in places. Do you want to get the most out of it and make your car as clean as possible? In that case you have to use a leather cleaner and then a leather conditioner.

Oh yes, we also recommend that you wash your hands immediately after you have finished cleaning the interior of your car. And always do that before you go for a ride, otherwise you will bring back the misery that you have brushed away. And that's not what you want.

Stay safe folks. Wash your hands well, pay close attention to each other and keep a minimum distance of 1.5m from someone else!
